Snap Fitness is a globally recognised 24/7 fitness brand actively expanding across Asia, with Hong Kong identified as a key strategic market. At the early stage of market entry, the number of Snap Fitness locations in Hong Kong was still limited. The primary objective of this campaign was not immediate membership acquisition, but to rapidly establish brand awareness—ensuring Hong Kong consumers knew that Snap Fitness was coming.

This campaign faced multiple real-world constraints and sensitivities:

The project was confirmed close to the Christmas peak season, when pop-up spaces and short-term retail locations were highly competitive.

Strict location requirements

 

The site had to deliver high foot traffic, strong visibility, and direct access to the target audience—urban professionals aged 20–40 who value health and lifestyle quality.

Short rental period with controlled budget

The activation required only about one week of display time, yet needed to be located in a prime urban district.

Sensitive social climate

 

During project preparation, a serious fire incident occurred in Hong Kong. Promotional execution therefore had to be carefully handled to avoid negative associations or public discomfort.

McKAB led the project end-to-end—from market strategy and creative concept to execution planning and onsite delivery—to develop a highly talkable Guerrilla Marketing activation tailored specifically for Snap Fitness.

Location Strategy

Initial site options such as Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay proved challenging due to limited availability and scheduling conflicts. McKAB strategically expanded the search to nearby high-potential core districts with equally strong pedestrian flow, successfully securing a high-exposure location at a more controlled cost, without compromising visibility or audience quality.

Creative Concept | “Accident Scene” Style Brand Reveal

Instead of a conventional “new store opening” approach, McKAB designed a high-impact visual narrative with strong dramatic tension:

  • A delivery van appearing to have “crashed into” the storefront

  • Fitness equipment scattered inside the window and vehicle area

  • A bold, all-red colour scheme aligned with Snap Fitness branding

  • Barrier tapes used to enhance the sense of immediacy and realism

This was not a real accident, but a carefully staged visual story designed to stop passersby, spark curiosity, encourage photography, and drive organic sharing on social media.

A Restrained but Highly Effective Promotion Pace

Taking into account the prevailing social atmosphere, McKAB advised a measured activation strategy:

  • No KOL collaborations or aggressive advertising during the initial phase

  • Allowing organic street-level attention and public discussion to build naturally

  • From around Day 4, introducing giveaways and branded souvenirs to capture potential customer leads

This approach balanced impact with sensitivity, ensuring positive reception.

Professional Management

This activation required far more than visual setup—it involved complex coordination and technical execution:

  • Removal and reinstallation of storefront glass panels

  • Short-term vehicle rental and full brand wrapping

  • Structural, safety and pedestrian flow assessments

  • Coordination with landlords, relevant authorities and police

  • Completion of design, production, installation and dismantling within an extremely tight schedule

All processes were managed under McKAB’s one-stop project management model, with dedicated personnel ensuring precision at every stage.
